I like this style. If you don't mind me asking, how do you get that painted look, is that like a certain kind of brush style in Corel Painter or something like that? Perhaps a magician shouldn't tell but I'm curious.

Hey dude, it's been ages! I just used a nice brush in Photoshop. Also I overlaid a canvas texture afterwards.

Hehe hey! I believe you are friends with Erik? Ah ok, is it a built in one or a download or something you made yourself? Nice to hear it's PhotoShop so I don't have to feel like there's reasons for me to learn Corel Painter. Hehe yeah I noticed the canvas texture. Do you always start from scratch painting or do you ever start with vectors?

Also happy birthday! Yeah that's right, I've been keeping track of your birthday all this time. .

Yeah - I used to talk to you on msn too though didn't I? Haha! The brush I used for this picture is from here: [link]

I usually start from scratch painting but sometimes I make paths/shapes in Photoshop to help mask stuff.

We talked a bit but not that much I think. Ah ok cool, thanks for the link! I like that yellow to orange color fade.

Ah ok, cool. :9 I'm going to experiment a bit with making vector art and then giving it a more painted look in PhotoShop, exporting the vector art in separate layers and using the transparency lock when painting. Tho I'm also thinking one could sketch a character out in PhotoShop and then trace it with vectors without the need of some other software, but I'm not very used to the vector tool in PhotoShop.

The pen tool in Photoshop has basically the same functionality as the one in Illustrator, it may be worth learning how to use it to save you some hassle further down the line.

Yeah I bet you're right. :9 Tho I'm not very familiar with the pen tool in Illustrator either haha. But I know the basic concept of how they work, making points and manipulating tangents. I love the gradient mesh tool in Illustrator tho, it almost makes me think I don't need PhotoShop. *goes off on a tangent* (get it, tangent)
